Jimmy Henderson - Drums
Jimmy Henderson received his first drum lessons at age 4. In high school, he not only participated in the music program, but also doubled at one point as staff arranger and instructor for an “all county band” that performed at the Alabama State Capital for a Governors inaugural event.

After graduating high school with honors in art and music, a music scholarship was waiting for him at Gadsden State Junior College. Henderson left college after his second year for an opportunity to audition for The Blue Devils Drum & Bugle Corps in Concord California. After acceptance into the Blue Devils, he was taught by internationally acclaimed percussion instructors Scott Johnson and Tom Float. That year, the Blue Devils drum line toured from coast to coast decisively winning in every competition they entered, including the International Open finals in Miami Florida.

Over the next several years, Henderson used his drum corp experience to land work as an instructor and writing charts for various high schools in the southeast. During this same period, his focus eventually shifted away from competitive drumming, and back to his first interest, the drum kit. Since then, he has performed and recorded in a wide variety of musical settings including jazz, blues, rock, country, big band, symphony, theater and praise music just to name a few. The most notable recording session was with (legendary blues artist) Johnny Shines just a few years before his death. The last several years have been busy, topping the century mark for gigs per year, and working with various bands. Although music has played a major role in his life, Henderson credits God, his wife and two children as “the most amazing and humbling journey of my life”.
